Today marks a significant milestone for Vanua Levu with the launch of the Na Vualiku Fiji Tourism Development Program. This transformative initiative aims to establish Vanua Levu as a center for sustainable tourism and economic growth.

At a recent event, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka emphasized the program’s importance, viewing it as a critical step towards a resilient future for Fiji. He highlighted investments in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, which will empower the local population to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, shared an ambitious vision for Vanua Levu, aiming to create a model for sustainable tourism that balances economic opportunities with environmental preservation. He credited the collaborative efforts of partners, including Airports Fiji Limited and the Fiji Roads Authority, for enhancing the island’s infrastructure.

A notable commitment from the World Bank was also announced, with Country Director Stefano Mocci revealing a $400 million investment over the next decade. This funding is expected to drive development and open new opportunities for the people of Vanua Levu.

In a further demonstration of commitment, the Na Vualiku Program office was officially opened in Savusavu Town this morning. This office will serve as the hub for implementing the program’s strategies.

The launch marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards a brighter future for Vanua Levu and all of Fiji. A heartfelt thank you to all partners for their support in making this vision a reality.
