When Nanumi Au Eco Village received support through the Pilot Tourism MSME Grant Programme to build a new communal kitchen hall, the goal was simple: create a space big enough to welcome more visitors.
A year on, that one structure has reshaped the business, sparking new experience offerings, new partnerships across the region, new jobs for local women, and a growing reputation as a place where community, culture and tourism meet.

When the business started, Nanumi Au offered simple accommodation with glamping experience. Today, the business has grown into something far more distinctive: a communal hall built for gathering, cultural events and celebration, paired with a signature โglampingโ offering that blends comfort with the outdoors.
The hall itself has quickly become the heart of the business. It now hosts village nights with lovo and meke, birthdays, cultural activities, workshops, and large group functions, evolving from a single-purpose space into a genuine community hub that brings people together and fosters authentic connections.

Gardening initiatives, including coffee planting with Bula Coffee.
Partnering with Narara Village to offer a unique rock waterslide experience for groups and students.
Partnering with Waitika Farm Fiji to incorporate locally produced honey into the visitor experience and promote local eco-products.
The hall also accommodates eco-hammock stays, popular with budget-conscious youth groups seeking nature without compromising comfort.
Cultural exchange, showcasing, and storytelling remain rooted in the village, with benefits flowing back to local womenโs and menโs groups while preserving and promoting authentic culture.
Nanumi Au has also created employment opportunities for two women, who now hold full-time, formally contracted leadership roles within the business.
Growth at Nanumi Au hasnโt come at the expense of the environment; instead, sustainability has become central to its identity as an eco-and regenerative tourism business with many initiatives such as mangrove conservation and education, regeneration of old sugarcane land with native and fruit trees, tree planting program for visitors, initiating village cleanups, and plans for compost toilets with their new bures.
This is tourism creating lasting opportunities, strengthening communities, preserving culture and protecting the places that make tourism possible.
