Fiji Welcomes Samoan Delegation for Inaugural Community Tourism Peer-to-Peer Exchange

Suva, 15 August 2025 – The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation extends a warm welcome to the delegation from Samoa, comprising officials of the Samoa Tourism Authority and representatives of community tourism enterprises, who are in Fiji for the Inaugural Peer-to-Peer Exchange Programme on Community Tourism.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, today received the delegation who paid a courtesy visit, underscoring the Government’s commitment to strengthening regional partnerships and advancing sustainable tourism development across the Pacific.

The programme, coordinated by the Pacific Tourism Organisation with support from New Zealand Māori Tourism, provided a valuable platform for Fiji and Samoa to share experiences and best practices in community-based tourism. It also reaffirms Fiji’s leadership in promoting tourism models that place communities at the centre of development.

During their official program, the Samoan delegation visited key tourism stakeholders across Fiji, gaining first-hand insight into approaches that have strengthened livelihoods while preserving cultural identity and heritage. This builds on Fiji’s visit to Samoa earlier this month.

Fiji looks forward to deepening collaboration with Samoa and other Pacific partners, reinforcing the Coalition Government’s commitment to regional cooperation and to positioning tourism as a driver of inclusive and sustainable growth across the Pacific.
