THIRD FIJI TOURISM CONVENTION TO CONVENE UNDER THEME OF “TOURISM BEYOND BOUNDARIES”

9 December 2025: The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation is pleased to announce the hosting of the Third Fiji Tourism Convention, set to take place on 22 and 23 January 2025 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa, Nadi.

The flagship national event brings together tourism leaders across government, industry, communities, and development partners to shape the future of Fiji’s visitor economy. This year’s theme, “Tourism Beyond Boundaries”, reflects Fiji’s commitment to unlock new frontiers in inclusive, resilient, and sustainable tourism.

Building on the success of previous conventions, the gathering will expand its focus to embrace cross-sector collaboration, community partnerships and resilience. The Convention will position tourism not only as a key economic driver, but as a platform that transcends traditional boundaries—geographical, social, and economic.

Hon. Viliame Gavoka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, stated that the theme is a call to reimagine the sector’s future.

“Tourism beyond boundaries is about pushing past conventional limits—bringing communities to the centre, enhancing partnerships, and exploring new ways of delivering value for every Fijian and every visitor. Tourism is no longer contained within resorts; it is woven into our land, oceans, cultures, livelihoods, and the aspirations of our people,” said Hon. Gavoka.

The third FTC will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and tourism professionals from around Fiji to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the tourism sector.

Tourism Fiji CEO, Dr Paresh Pant stated that “The Fiji Tourism Convention is an essential platform for aligning our collective ambitions for the sector. As Government continues to invest in strengthening our destination, through infrastructure, community development, and long-term resilience, Tourism Fiji is better positioned to amplify Fiji’s story to the world.”

He further added that “This Convention helps us understand emerging needs, hear directly from our industry and communities, and refine how we promote and market Fiji in an increasingly competitive global landscape. When our foundations at home are stronger, our marketing can go further, attracting higher-value visitors, opening new markets, and ensuring the benefits of tourism are felt across our islands.”

The two-day event will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, providing a platform for participants to share insights and strategies for leveraging tourism as a force for positive change and sustainable economic development. Discussions will build on the resolutions of the last Convention.

Registration will be open to operators, communities, youth groups, investors, academics, NGOs, development partners, and government agencies.

More details, including the programme and keynote speakers, will be released in the coming weeks.
