Pacific Aviation Ministers Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Regional Aviation Connectivity at RAMM4
12 May 2026 | Suva – Pacific Aviation Ministers have reaffirmed their collective commitment to strengthening regional aviation connectivity, safety, resilience, and cooperation during the Fourth Regional Aviation Ministers’ Meeting (RAMM4).
The meeting brought together Ministers, senior officials, regional organisations, and international partners to discuss key priorities for the Pacific aviation sector, including connectivity, infrastructure development, regulatory cooperation, affordability, and operational resilience.
Ministers acknowledged that aviation remains a critical lifeline for Pacific Island countries, supporting tourism, trade, economic development, and disaster response across the region.
Speaking during the meeting, Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation underscored the importance of aviation infrastructure development in improving regional connectivity.
“Connectivity is a priority across the Pacific, and as Ministers, we must continue to elevate this issue within our national discussions and development planning,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Fiji’s ongoing efforts to improve domestic and regional connectivity through continued investments in airports and aerodrome upgrades, while noting that many Pacific nations continue to face infrastructure limitations that affect connectivity and service delivery.
Ministers also reaffirmed their support for the Pacific Regional Aviation Strategy (PRAS) and the Pacific Regional Aviation Action Plan (PRAAP), including efforts to strengthen regional collaboration, safety oversight, and implementation support mechanisms.
The meeting further recognised the continued partnership and support of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Pacific Aviation Safety Office (PASO) in advancing regional aviation priorities.
The meeting concluded with Ministers reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing a safer, more connected, and resilient Pacific aviation sector for the benefit of all Pacific Island countries.
