
Hon Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka Meets UAE Minister of Economy H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri
Abu Dhabi, UAE – Honourable Viliame Gavoka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, met with His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), on the sidelines of the 4th International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS 2025), hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.
During their meeting, the two leaders engaged in productive discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of civil aviation, investments, and overall economic development.
H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri highlighted the significant role that civil aviation has played in driving the UAE’s economic growth and development and UAE stands ready to assist Fiji in civil aviation development and cooperation.
Hon. Gavoka expressed his gratitude to H.E. Al Marri and the Government of the UAE for their warm hospitality and for hosting the International Delegates at the ICAO GISS 2025 event. He emphasised the importance of this collaboration in advancing Fiji’s economic prospects, particularly through enhanced connectivity, which will provide a much-needed boost to the tourism sector and overall economic growth. He also expressed optimism about the potential to create a dynamic civil aviation cooperation model that will contribute to the long-term success of Fiji’s economy. The two ministers agreed to focus their cooperation on sustainable growth, increased trade, and expanded tourism opportunities.
