Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation hosts Business Continuity Workshop for Tourism MSME’s

9 October 2025 – Namaka, Nadi – The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation hosted a two-day Business Continuity Training Workshop at the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji, Nadi.

The two-day practical workshop, facilitated by Enterprising Pacific Academy, brought together fifteen micro, small, and medium enterprises in hands-on sessions to develop tailored Business Continuity Plans, strengthening resilience and preparedness across Fiji’s tourism sector.

These businesses represented accommodation, food and beverage, agritourism, and other experiential tour operators.

Supporting MSMEs to strengthen risk management capabilities within the sector is in line with Fiji’s National Sustainable Tourism Framework 2024-2034. This two-day workshop introduces Business Continuity Planning (BCP) in clear, simple terms for organisations with little or no prior experience.

Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Salaseini Daunabuna shared that the Ministry remains committed to strengthening the ability of MSMEs to be more proactive in planning ahead for risks.

“Resilience is good business. A clear continuity plan helps operators protect their people, guests, and cash flow—and supports a faster organization and national recovery after shocks. With partnerships and workshops, we hope to turn policy into practical steps on the ground,” said PS Daunabuna.

Using Pacific-relevant examples and interactive exercises, participants learnt to safeguard critical services, protect staff and customers, and maintain operations during disruptions such as cyclones, floods, telecom outages, or supplier failures.
